Savory Oats

Quick Oats

Ingredients:

  • ½ Cup Quick Oats

  • ¾ Cup Vegetable Or Chicken Broth

  • Shredded Carrots

  • Onion (Diced)

  • Spinach

  • Spices: Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Thyme, Sage, Salt, and Pepper

How To:

  1. Chop up the onion and prepare the shredded carrots and spinach.

  2. Boil the broth with the shredded carrots, onion, and spinach.

  3. Add quick oats to a bowl.

  4. Once boiling, turn off heat and pour hot broth and vegetables over the bowl and stir.

  5. Allow to sit for about 5-10 minutes and thicken. Enjoy!

Steel Cut Oats

Ingredients:

  • ½ Cup Steel Cut Oats

  • 1 Cup Vegetable Or Chicken Broth

  • Shredded Carrots

  • Onion (Diced)

  • Spinach

  • Spices: Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Thyme, Sage, Salt, and Pepper

How To:

  1. Boil the broth.

  2. Once boiling, add the steel cut oats and shredded carrots, onion, and spinach to the pot and reduce to medium-low heat and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Remove from the heat and allow to stand for 2 minutes. Enjoy!

Variations:

  • Savory oats made with oats, broth, pan-fried onion and mushrooms, and lightly sauteed fresh herbs (Rosemary, Thyme, Sage, Basil), with Figs

  • Savory oats made with oats, broth, spices, kale, cauliflower, and shredded carrots
